Gary Stanley
Mr. Stanley is the Managing Director of Global Minerals Strategies LLC which provides analytical and consulting services to the mining and critical minerals industries. Mr. Stanley was the former Director of the Office of Critical Minerals and Metals in the Industry & Analysis (I&A) unit of the Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration (ITA). Prior to his separation from U.S. Government service, Mr. Stanley led an office of 10 industry and trade specialists that monitored a wide range of sectors, including critical minerals, strategic materials, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The office performed industry, trade, and domestic supply chain analyses, actively supported U.S. trade policy activities, participated in trade negotiations and international agreements, and organized trade promotion and facilitation programs in order to improve the global competitiveness of a range of U.S. materials industries. Among Mr. Stanley’s chief accomplishments in the critical minerals space was the 2019 Federal Critical Minerals Strategy under the Trump Administration, where he served as the lead coordinating author for the report released in June 2019.
Mr. Stanley joined the Commerce Department in 1983, after graduating from North Carolina State University.
